Eternal Summer

I live were you vacation, a famous phrase every puerto rican knows oh so well. During this caribbean "winter" weather, we puerto ricans spend our time breathing in that chill & cozy breeze that finally caresses our skin and messes up our hair. No need for chunky layers of clothes to keep us warm, for there is no better temperature than a 70 degree weather to enjoy your christmas break. Proudly, I am one of those island girls who spends her days wearing summer dresses like this one all year long. Among a enormous pile of dresses I have always think of this one as my favorite. Maybe it is the softness of the cotton or the eternal flower print that runs all to my calves that make this dress so unique and special for me. One thing I know for sure is that I will be using this guy quite a lot.

White

Have you ever felt like you are in a movie, acting your way out through life? There is no need for anything else to be distracting your mind, from those lovely Parisian vibes or those romantic Old San Juan roads. Every single detail seems to be utterly perfectly thought. Even the imperfect seems to be settled on purpose, as it plays along with the day. Those visionary men who thought of the alignment of our streets, were clearly daydreaming about sunsets and sunrises, as I am about the day.

Red

I still remember the moment I was first introduced to the amazing world of Palazzo pants. In 2014 these pants were everywhere, from runways, street-styles, designer brands to fast fashion stores. It is not like they have left the world yet, or my mind anyway. It took me 2 years to finally get my own, not because I did not liked them at first, but because I just could not find the right pants for me. The ones that fitted me perfectly, because although I am pretty thin, I gotta recognize, I inherited my mother's hips.
About a month ago I was at the mall and what I thought would be just window shopping, turned out to be an actual shopping day. I mean, I have to be honest, that is always how window shopping turns out to be. (Maybe I just say it to feel less guilty, or not) Red was the exact color I was looking for because I am not the kind of person who wears bold color, but I wanted to give it a try. Even though it is not "red-red" it is a different kind of red. The amazing thing about this shade is that it goes well with practically anything, it is not "out there" but you will not go unnoticed. From now on, I will save a special space in my closet (which goes along with my heart) for anything red.

Sincerely,
Carla.

Black

Black is defined as the absence of color, black is what we see when we shut our eyes closed, is that universe we reach when no visible light catches the eye, therefore most people associate it with loss, mourn or misery. That is definitely not my case. For me, black represents something better, something everyone needs once in a while: comfiness and comfort. Grab a loose blouse, put on a dancing skirt, a pair of white sneakers and your coolest leather jacket. Let your inner and outer self be as comfortable as you can, while showing the world self-confidence is all that matters.

You know how they always say a woman in red is sexy and strong, well, let me tell you something better, a women in black is not afraid of anything. Now go and devour the world!

Sincerely,
Carla.

Canvas

To be honest this is exactly how my brain feels right now, like a plain canvas. It's funny how it relates to this post's outfit. After a rough week full of studies the only thing I can say about this Zara set is that it reminds me a lot of what I used to do every saturday morning a few years ago. Fill blank canvas with lines, colors and faces. That used to be my hobby, not that I don't like to paint anymore, it's just that college barely gives me time for myself. Anyway, I know this isn't much but it is all I can say right now. I hope you guys like it.

Sincerely,
Carla.

Biomórfico | In collab with Héctor Rafael

Wearing Ana María Mariana

 Wearing Sulyvette Díaz

 Wearing Jean Cintrón

Everyone who knows Héctor Rafael's paintings knows that his work is anything but ordinary. His most recent collection, Biomórfico, does not deviate from that path, instead it continues to amaze. This exhibition not only shows the body in motion, but also explores pleasure in many ways. From heterosexuality to homosexuality, equity is one of the main themes in this story. Some of the paintings include a hidden third person that not only looks at the spectators, but also at the bodies presented inside the paintings. Those eyes that take pleasure of watching, clandestinely, the form of the body, the movement and the enjoyment experienced by these bodies evoke voyeurism. Mixing the human body with nature, Héctor Rafael creates different parts of the body which exhibit the type of pleasure that not only the body is allowed to feel but nature too. When the exhibition is seen as a whole, a harmonic ambience serves as a guide throughout the exhibition, for his art does not stop at each painting individually, but it rather continues along the whole room. From vibrant colors to pastels on triptychs and simples, Biomórfico provokes all kind of emotions and interpretations along the room.

Sincerely,
Carla.

Go and see Biomórfico, have your own interpretation.
This exhibition is currently at Museo Las Américas at Cuartel de Ballajá.

Minimalist by Welle at Collective Request

With WELLE duo: Katz and Rits

Last week I had the opportunity to meet and join Welle Swimwear's amazing duo: Katz Hernández and Rita Blondet at the official launch event of their new collection: Minimalist, held at the beautiful store Collective Request at old San Juan. As I chatted with the designer duo I asked them to describe their collection in just one word: Structure and Elements they responded. This collection, besides being completely minimalist, obviously, gives the admirer a strong and bold perception about the pieces. Using structural yet simple elements, as vertical lines are, the minimalist collection pieces almost hug the body perfectly embracing the curves of the person who's wearing it. Even though most of the pieces are black and white, some of it also have a spark of contrasting colors like aqua blue. If you are like me, and enjoy the simple things in life this collection is all of our dreams come true.

Well, as for me, who would've known that I was going to be in tune with the collection?

One Last Time | In Collab x Krak3n Studio & L*Space

One Last Time because I won't be able to see, feel and even breath that salty water in a long time. No I am not moving from this beautiful island, but I'll be stuck studying for a LOT of exams including the MCAT this semester. So what better way to say goodbye( more like see you later) than by spending my last day of vacation in it.
